Astrology is a vast topic that society has used for centuries to forecast daily events in their lives based on where the planets and astrological symbols are in the sky. There are many types of Astrology: Western or āTraditionalā, Vedic, Evolutionary, Locational, Relationship and so on. In this passage we are going to focus on Western Astrology. Within Western Astrology, there are also many types of astrological charts, or wheels, that can be examined and are based on the 12 zodiac signs in a Western Calendar. Within an astrological wheel there are 12 āhousesā; each house is a zodiac sign and holds an emphasis on a specific area in a typical individualās life. A basic astrological wheel always starts out with the zodiac sign Aries as the first house. Aries, according to Greek mythology, is all about āIā or the ego. The concept of Aries being the first house changes when different modalities are being analyzed.
The Natal Chart is an individualized chart that maps out where all the planets and astrological symbols were in the sky depending on when and where that individual was born. Typically, the first house in a Solar Natal Chart would start with the Sun Sign, which is the birth month and day the individual was born. For example, if the birthday is November 1st, the first house in the Solar Chart would be Scorpio, rearranging the rest of the houses to follow in numerological order. The second house would then be Sagittarius, third Capricorn, fourth Aquarius, and so on. When the time of birth is known this represents where the sun was in the sky when the individual was born. The sun moves around the zodiac wheel every two hours until it starts a new day and rises again in the morning at midnight. This new first house in the astrological natal chart is now called the āRising Signā and represents who that individual wakes up as every day when the sun rises. (even if it is cloudy outside) If someone was born at 4pm their rising would be a Libra, even if their Sun is in a different sign. Every day they wake up with Libran energy. The Moon sign is where the Moon was in the sky when the individual was born and represents their emotional and mental authority. The Sun, Rising, and Moon sign are the three most known astrology signs in Western Natal Charts, and can be the most impactful on the daily adventures and experiences in our lives on Earth. Lastly, each planet sits at a specific degree, which runs from 0-29 starting over in each zodiac sign. The degrees are split into three decans and each decan represents a more specific zodiac energy within that one zodiac sign. Each degree of each planet changes based on the date, place, and time of birth, because each planet moves at a different speed around the astrological chart. That is why each chart is unique.
In Egyptian Astrology they focused a lot on the Natal Degree Decans:
